Best PlaceJuice Reviews

As one of the last bastions of any decent real ale in Prescot, the Sun Inn has hung in there, and is definately worthy of mention. It has at least two real ales on, well kept, usually nationally sourced. The building is beautiful, but very tired, it has all the basics of its original pub/hotel/inn layout, the toilets still have their original glass windows, it could just do with some investment. It has a nice beer garden, with decking and seats, with the much nicer, previous pub signs adorning the garden walls. The front room is lovely. With some renovation and the ability to source more adventurous ale, and having the custom to maintain it, this pub could be an absolute historic gem.
Visited The Sun for Sunday lunch today and it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back, thank you!
Good place for a drink and a good chat about God and the world. Nice staff and a lovely beer garden too!
I had a excellent Roast Beef Dinner here with home cooked Yorkshire puds and Roastie.Best I had in a long time.
Nothing to much trouble. Will return next week
Love the atmosphere in here great pub!
Best pub in all of Prescot. I just love the atmosphere and good people who pop in. Top place. I love going there with my other half Leanne ????????????
A traditional but very tired and unkempt pub. Beer is good and the majority of people who frequent are generally friendly and welcoming.
It's significantly let down by its appearance and lack of maintenance. Tired décor, cobwebs and cables hanging from ceilings and fixtures, light bulbs that don't fit or work. The toilets you might use if you are desperate.
Many of these can be put right very quickly and at little cost however, there appears to be little desire from the landlord to do so.
The soon to be opening of the new nearby theatre, is likely to bring many new visitors to the pub who I imagine will visit just the once and give it a wide berth afterwards. Prescot is on the up and its establishments like this that let it down.
This place would benefit greatly from a change in landlord/management.
Great selection of ales. Staff really Friendly. CAMRA discounts available here.

Quick Facts About Sun Inn

The Sun Inn in Prescot has some clear strengths that make it a popular choice among visitors. One of its biggest strengths is its reputation for serving real ale. As one of the last places in the area to offer decent real ale, the Sun Inn has managed to stay relevant and attract customers. With at least two well-kept real ales available, usually sourced nationally, the pub has built a positive reputation among ale enthusiasts.
Another strength of the Sun Inn is its building and layout. The establishment has retained its original pub/hotel/inn layout, creating a charming and traditional atmosphere. The building itself is described as beautiful, although it is also noted that it is very tired and could use some investment. Despite this, the layout and original features, such as the glass windows in the toilets, add to the pub's appeal.
The beer garden at the Sun Inn is another positive aspect. With decking and seating, it provides a pleasant outdoor space for customers to enjoy their drinks. Additionally, the previous pub signs adorning the garden walls add a touch of nostalgia and enhance the overall ambiance.
Many customers also appreciate the front room of the pub, which is described as lovely. This room has the potential to be even more impressive with some renovation. The comments suggest that with the ability to source more adventurous ales and the right investment, the Sun Inn could become a historic gem.
Several positive comments highlight the quality of the food and the dining experience at the Sun Inn. One visitor raves about the delicious Sunday lunch, particularly praising the roast beef and homemade Yorkshire puddings. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere are also mentioned favorably, contributing to a positive dining experience.
On the other hand, the comments also shed light on the weaknesses of the Sun Inn. It is described as a traditional but very tired and unkempt pub. The tired décor, cobwebs, and cables hanging from ceilings and fixtures are noted as areas that require immediate attention. Additionally, various maintenance issues such as light bulbs not fitting or working and inadequate toilets are highlighted.
While some customers appreciate the pub for its atmosphere and friendly patrons, the appearance and lack of maintenance are considered significant downsides. In particular, it is mentioned that the soon-to-be-opened nearby theatre is likely to bring new visitors who might not return due to the pub's appearance. The comments suggest that a change in landlord or management could greatly benefit the Sun Inn.
Despite its weaknesses, the Sun Inn still manages to attract customers due to its offerings of real ale, pleasant beer garden, and positive dining experience. However, addressing the maintenance issues and renovating the pub's tired appearance could significantly improve its overall appeal and reputation. With the right investment and management, the Sun Inn has the potential to become a historic gem in Prescot.
